On the 15 October we brought together Tanya Raabe-Webber and the five artists based at Venture Arts who will be working on the OutsidersXchanges project.
We were really happy to have family and support workers attend this first meeting as well. Amanda from Venture Arts explained how the project will work and how important the project is as well.
We discussed what types of art everyone was interested in, good at and wanted to experiment more with. We introduced everyone working on the project including James, Kate, Glen and Amanda and explained what role we would be playing during the project.
We then went to explore our temporary studio space where the artists will run a series of workshops exploring different media and techniques. These workshop sessions will take place during November, December and January in the lead up to them being joined by five artists without a learning disability. Who will then collaborate over five months to produce a piece of work together.
These later sessions will take place in an exciting studio space we will announce in the New Year, but the sessions from November till January will take place in the Yard Theatre, Hulme.
Coming up soon… A call-out to artists, our 1st official presses release and more blogs from the artists and myself.
