Matt Girling uses a diverse and chaotic range of media including model making, moving image and comic-art to make work that often has modular and interactive elements. Re-occurring themes include the passage of time and the position of human civilization in relation to nature, which matt navigates with with generous pinch of humor.

”I was attracted to this project because of its focus being on the process of creating and collaborating more than a resolved conclusion,to meet new people and make work in a new space.

I use moving image, sculpture and drawing and to create imagined miniature landscapes with ambiguous histories parallel to our own. My work questions the notion of “nature” and the “man-made” being separate. I invite my audience to consider the position of the human race, technology and culture simply as one small component of the natural world.”
